FROM PASSION TO PROFESSION…

I’ve always loved the outdoors and spending time in nature. After fourteen years of teaching about sustainability in my classroom, I have resigned to pursue my dreams of exploring the world and helping others live a more sustainable lifestyle through this site. Take some small steps along with me to become our most Successfully Sustainable selves!

My sustainability journey

As a child I spent a LOT of time outdoors. My grandparents owned a cottage in Northwestern Ontario, where I spent most of my summers exploring the woods, swimming, picking berries, and playing with my many cousins. My love affair with Mother Nature began early.

In my teens and early twenties, my time was focused more on school, sports, and social life aspects. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education and establishing my career, my passion for the outdoors was rekindled. Now, almost all of my free time is spent outdoors – running, hiking, cycling, trail-running, camping, kayaking – you name it, I’ll try it!

I also hold an insatiable need to adventure and explore this beautiful planet, leading me to have visited over seventy countries so far. I truly believe that meeting locals, and learning about other cultures, practices and languages leads to a deep respect and love for all people of our world.

This appreciation of our planet and its people has led me to investigate how to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Through minimalism, energy and waste reduction, water conservation and other sustainability practices, I am learning and challenging myself to become the most successfully sustainable I can be!

Part of this challenge is to encourage and help others become more sustainable in an easy to implement, clear and non-judgemental way.

Join me in my journey to inspire others to take small actions together to make big differences!

Sustainably Yours,

Julie
